Metal Building and Metal Roofing Warranties
Warranties for Your Quality Metals Direct, Inc. Products
40 YEAR PAINTED
Galvalume or steel substrate coated with zinc then
finished with a silicone polyester paint system
consisting of a primer coat top and bottom and the
primary color applied to the top of the panel.
-
Warranty: 40 year limited warranty,
pro-rated from year 1, non-transferable, must be
installed within the continental US.
-
Coverage: Paint peel, check, chip, or
crack resulting from a manufacturers defect for a
period of 40 years from the date of invoice providing
the project the material is installed on meets the
limitations of a minimum slope of 3:12 or greater, not
used for animal confinement, is installed within the
contiguous United States, and is not within 1000 feet
of an aggressive environment such as, but not limited
to, salt water. Excessive chalk and fade is covered
for the first 10 years (note: chalk and fade occur
normally as the binders and pigments of the paint
system break down, fade is expected to be uniform with
equal exposure to the sun).
25 YEAR GALVALUME
Steel substrate coated with a molten hot dip action
providing a coating thickness of .55 ounces of
zinc/aluminum (AZ55) per square foot of panel top and
bottom.
-
Warranty: 25 year limited warranty,
pro-rated from year 1, non-transferable, must be
installed within the continental US.
-
Coverage: For a period of 25 years
the panel will not perforate due to red rust provided
the project the material is installed on meets the
limitations of a minimum slope of 3:12 or greater, not
used for animal confinement, is installed within the
contiguous United States, and is not within 1/2 mile
of an aggressive environment such as, but not limited
to, salt water. Due to the characteristics of the
metallic coating, cosmetics cannot be controlled and
are not covered by the limited warranty. This metallic
coating can and will weather non-uniformly. Galvalume
coating was developed as a functional finish for
projects where aesthetics are not a major concern.
-
Properties: Galvalume is a mixture of
roughly 45% zinc and 55% aluminum with a small amount
of silicon to promote an even flow over the substrate.
This coating also derives its shade, size, and pattern
of spangle from the impurities in the elements of the
molten hot dip bath.
GALVANIZED
Steel substrate coated with molten zinc in a hot bath dip
action providing a coating thickness of .90 ounces of zinc
(G90) per square foot of panel top and bottom.
- Warranty: NONE
- Coverage: NONE
-
Properties: Galvanized coating is roughly
98% zinc with a small amount of silicon to promote proper
flow. The shade and spangle (patchy appearance of the
coating) are due to impurities in the zinc and can vary.
Zinc coating is a sacrificial weak metal coating that will
sacrifice itself to protect the noble metal (in this case
steel) from galvanic chemical reaction accelerated by
moisture from humidity, condensation, rain, and snow.
